Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 23, 2026

This policy explains what personal data Meme Corp collects, why, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible.

Who we are

Meme Corp (“we”, “us”) is an independent publication operated by Francesco Di Cristinzi, based in Italy. For any privacy question or request, contact us at hello@memecorp.com. We are the data controller for the personal data described below.

What we collect

  • Newsletter data — if you subscribe: your email address, any categories you choose, the page you subscribed from, and timestamps. A random token is generated to power your unsubscribe and preference links.
  • Usage & analytics — aggregate article view counts, stored with no cookie and no full IP address. If you allow the Analytics category, Google Analytics 4 also measures usage. See the Cookie Policy.
  • Technical data — standard server logs (e.g. IP address, browser type) generated when you visit, used for security and to keep the site running.
  • Local preferences — your light/dark theme choice is stored in your browser’s local storage, not on our servers.

How we use it

  • To send you the newsletter you asked for, and let you manage or cancel it.
  • To measure, in aggregate, what content is useful.
  • To operate, secure and improve the site.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases (GDPR)

We rely on your consent for the newsletter (double opt-in — you confirm via email), and on our legitimate interests for security, aggregate analytics and keeping the service running. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers acting on our behalf:

  • Email provider (e.g. Resend or Elastic Email) to deliver confirmation and newsletter emails.
  • Google (Analytics) — if you allow the Analytics category, Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland / Google LLC) processes usage data on our behalf, including in the United States.
  • Embedded content — YouTube videos you open load directly (via youtube-nocookie) to play what you requested. X/Twitter, Instagram and TikTok embeds load only if you allow Social embeds or click them. Those providers set their own cookies under their own policies. See our Cookie Policy.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers needed to run the site.

Retention

We keep newsletter data until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Server logs and aggregate counts are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above. Google Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can request access to your data, and its rectification, erasure, restriction or portability, and you can object to certain processing. You may unsubscribe from any email using the link it contains, or manage preferences at your preferences page. To exercise any right, email hello@memecorp.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

International transfers

Some providers process data outside the EU/EEA. In particular, if you allow Analytics, Google may process data in the United States. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the providers’ data processing terms.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; we’ll change the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, give notice where appropriate.
